Keynotes
Professor William Gaver, as head of the Interaction Research Studio at Goldsmiths at University College London. He has pursued research on innovative technologies for over 20 years, following a trajectory that led from experimental science to design. His research focuses on design-led methodologies and innovative technologies for everyday life. With his group, he has developed approaches to design ranging from Cultural Probes to the use of documentary film to help assess peoples' experience with designs, pursued conceptual work on topics such as ambiguity and interpretation, and produced highly-fashioned prototypes that have been deployed for long-term field trials and exhibited in major international exhibitions.
Dr Jonathan Grudin works in the Adaptive Systems and Interaction Group at Microsoft Research. His research is in human-computer interaction and computer supported cooperative work, with a particular focus on the design, adoption and use of group support technologies
Dr Abigail Sellen is a Principal Researcher at Microsoft Research Cambridge in the UK and co-manager of Socio-Digital Systems, an interdisciplinary group with a focus on the human perspective in computing. As a group, Socio-Digital Systems is interested in simple technologies, and in learning from everyday life to inform the design of systems which are both useful and compelling.
